As a child growing up in rural North Carolina, my friends and I were often steered toward creative outlets for entertainment. My love for art began there where I took painting classes which quickly became a favorite way to explore and expand my world.  As years passed my personal and professional passions began to weave together and remained in the arts with my education and career which included a focus in art history, arts management, advertising, decorative painting and studio art. I have enjoyed painting and selling my art for more than 30 years and am honored to have pieces that have found homes in private and cooperate collections.

Classes and workshops continue to serve as sources of learning and experimentation and always leave me with great respect for the talent of other artists as well as a desire to push myself further. I work to always remain willing to step out of my comfort zone. I believe that by embracing vulnerability, we grow and find moments of both curiosity and connection. Developing an appreciation of being in the present is also a welcome gift while creating.

Color is often the first catalyst which drives me in the early stages of a painting. More neutral work is sprinkled in to focus on composition and line. I find daily inspiration from people, images, experiences, and nature. My focus has an abstract approach with periodic floral and botanical references. While oils are my preferred medium, I love to experiment with different forms of mixed media to create layers, texture, and depth.

My wish is that my work will evoke a sense of serenity with an appreciation of the abundant beauty that surrounds us. I am fascinated by art that can reflect all cultures and serve as an incentive for understanding many aspects of the human experience.

My home is in Richmond, Virginia, and I am beyond grateful to have a wonderful husband and three daughters who I adore. They offer constant encouragement and are my pride, loves, and joys.
